Getting Started

Read carefully, cause reading is what? Fundamental!

Roller blinds are so popular due to their versatility and simplicity. Why not link a few of them together and achieve a great look with control functionality that makes sense? Linked roller blinds are the perfect solution for sliding or bi-fold doors as well as fixed panelled windows across a large span.

Match up the "links" between blinds with the vertical breaks on your windows and doors and you'll maximise light control, privacy and design aesthetic in your space. With individual roller blinds able to span a width of 3000mm, linked roller blinds can cover up to a gigantic 12000mm! Using our linking componentry the gaps between the blinds are minimised to 12mm.

Don't forget, a great benefit of linked roller blinds is your control options. You can control up to 3 roller blinds from one control or select a combination of left or right controls to maximise functionality. Remember, using linked roller blinds eliminates the need for chains in-between your blinds and only have them on the ends of the linked blind system.

What you need:

  • 1 to 2 people
  • A metal tape measure
  • A pen or pencil
  • Piece of paper
  • Step Ladder

How will your linked roller blinds be mounted?

Recess Fit
If you've got 50mm with no obstructions, you're all set

In order to mount the linked roller blinds within a window frame or recess, you'll need to ensure there's at least 50mm of depth within the recess. This is to ensure both the roller blind brackets are able to neatly fit within the recess and enough room for the linked roller blinds to sit within the frame too.

Be sure to check whether your doors or windows have vertical mullions that impede the 50mm depth within your recess as the linked roller blinds need an unimpeded 50mm depth at the top of your recess where the brackets will be mounted. If you have a door handle in the middle of your recess, be sure there's at least 25mm from the door handle to the front edge of the recess as you can simply front roll your blinds so the fabric and base rail can freely roll down to the bottom of your recess or floor.

If you don't have 50mm unobstructed depth at the top of your recess, then face fit linked roller blinds are the way to go.

Check your depth

Get that measuring tape out and let's go

With your measuring tape, ensure there’s at least a 50mm depth between the window pane and front edge of your window or door frame across the entire span of your space. Check the vertical breaks or mullions of your space to ensure the brackets are able to be installed with no obstruction between them for the roller blinds to operate correctly.

If you have less than 50mm depth within your recess, we'd recommend a face fit mounted roller blind.

Measure the total width

Measure the exact width across the total span, don't worry about any deductions

Using your measuring tape, measure the inside width of your window or door frame across the top. You might need a helper for this bit to get the most accurate total width measurement.

Ensure to note down the exact recess width with no deductions.

Measure the height

Exact measurement from top to bottom

Measure the height of your recess by taking the exact measurement from the top of the recess to the bottom. Note down your height measurement.

Measure individual linked blind widths

Concentrate here and the results will be amazing

Measure from left to right to make things easier. Take your measuring tape and start from the far left of the recess where you took the total width measurement. Run the measuring tape to exactly the centre of vertical break/mullion of your window or door.

Note down this measurement as 'A'. Then move the measuring tape to exactly where your width measurement 'A' finished and take the measurement from there to the next exact centre vertical break. Note down this measurement as 'B'. If you have more panels, continue with the same steps up to 4 panels.

Be sure to remember these measurements as where each individual width measurement ends is where you'll install your brackets.

Control option

Decide which side the blind control will sit on

Think about how you'd like the blinds to operate, which ones you want operating together and which you'd prefer to be operated individually. If you've got a sliding door where the handle is on the far left or right then for easy entry, having this blind operated individually would be functionally best. The control options based on the number of linked blinds are:

2 linked roller blinds:

  • Left-Left = 1 chain on left
  • Right-Right = 1 chain on right

3 linked roller blinds:

  • Left-Left-Right = 1 chain on left for left & middle blind. 1 chain on right for right blind.
  • Left-Right-Right = 1 chain on left for left blind. 1 chain on right for middle & right blind.
  • Left-Left-Left = 1 chain on left to control all blinds.
  • Right-Right-Right = 1 chain on right to control all blinds.

4 linked roller blinds:

  • Left-Left-Right-Right = 1 chain on left for two left blinds. 1 chain on right for two right blinds. To ensure all blinds are stable and roll up equally, this is the only control option for 4 panelled linked roller blinds.
