Getting Started

Get prepared

This tried and true window furnishing is the great all rounder with classic design and robust materials. Plus, it's a breeze to install.

Unpack your boxes, remove the outer plastic wrapping and look out for the label affixed to the wrapping on your venetian blind which shows your product name & basic specs. Get all your parts organised and be sure to keep the soft foam wrapping attached to your pieces to prevent any pre-intallation marks and scratches.

What you need:

  • 1 to 2 people
  • A metal tape measure
  • A pencil
  • Step Ladder
  • Drill with phillips head drill bit
  • 3mm drill bit for pilot holes

Recess Fit
Installing your venetian blind within the recess of your window

You'll be installing the venetian blinds brackets inside of your window frame. The brackets have multiple fixing points, however to achieve maximum coverage ensure to install the screws through the bracket into the top of your recess.

It only takes a few minutes to install your new venetian blinds, so let's get started.

What's in the box?

Let's unpack everything

Open up the cardboard box(es) you've received. Open the outer layer of plastic surrounding your blind(s). You'll notice some bracket componentry, a blue plastic bag containing the child safety clip and a bag of screws. There'll be one bag with all the screws for each of the blinds you've ordered - there's approximately 2 screws per bracket.

*NOTE: Because your venetian blind is fully customised, the components in your order may differ from those pictured here. Don’t worry, we promise you’ll have everything you need and all the extras you’ve asked for.

Mark up

Get a pencil ready

We're going to be marking up where your brackets will be installed.

Line up your brackets

Before you install your brackets, its important that your outer most brackets are postisioned at least 50mm from the end on your blind.

Line these up now before you proceed.

Mark up your brackets

Gather your brackets, the number of brackets may differ depending on the length of your blind.

Lift each bracket to the top of your recess with each bracket flush with the top of  your recess. Make a mark with your pencil through the top bracket as shown in the image.

Make sure the back of the bracket is at least 10mm any obstructions your blind could get snagged on.

Pop the 3mm drill bit into your drill and pre-drill holes for each of the venetian blind brackets where you've marked in the previous step.

Repeat for all brackets.

Install your brackets

Install your brackets by holding each up and drilling a screw through the pilot hole.

Repeat this process for all remaining brackets.

Install your blind

Click in your venetian blind, it's that easy!

You're nearly there. Just simply click your venetian blind into your already installed brackets.

Line up your blind

Lift up your venetian blind at an angle and line up the front lip of the headrail with the prongs on the front of each bracket. Then hook the prongs into the underside of the lip.

Click in your blind

Keeping the front lip hooked on, turn your headrail toward the window. Once your blind in inline with the top of the recess, gently apply force until you hear a satisfying 'Click'.

This means your blind is now intalled and secure. Great Job!

Optional: Install the hold down clip

Hold down clips are only included in your order if you requested one.

Hold down clips are great for the longevity of your blind. Preventing your blind from swinging and taking some weight off of the headrail.

Use the screws provided to attach the base of the hold down clip to the bottom corner of your window recess.

Once attached, snap the hold down clip pin into the guide holes on the end of the blind’s bottom rail. Looking good!

Child safety

This is the important stuff

If like us at Shadey, you take child safety seriously, make sure to follow the steps below.

Mark up
